Day 1

We begin our journey in the early morning leaving Chengdu for the majestic Mt. Emei. Located on the southwest edge of the Sichuan Basin about 150km (~93mi) from Chengdu, Mt. Emei is one of four famous mountains that are particularly rich in Buddhist history. Dating back to 1st Century AD, Mahayana Buddhism on Mt. Emei has a long and storied history. Today, a great deal of said history can still be found on Mt. Emei, truly a must see for anyone interested in Buddhism and Buddhist history!

The 2 ½ hour journey from Chengdu to Mt. Emei through winding mountain passes concludes with our arrival and check-in at 5-star accommodations. After filling up on a delicious lunch at our hotel, we will then travel by coach followed by cable car to Ten Thousand Years Temple. Originally constructed in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (~401AD), Ten Thousand Years Temple is one of the most historic monasteries on Mt. Emei.

Inside the temple you can soak up over 1600 years of Buddhist history, a truly Chinese experience. In addition, the Ten-Thousand-Year Temple Scenic Area offers majestic views from an elevation of as high as 1900m (~6000ft.).

From the temple, we will proceed by foot down the mountain with marvelous views, and finally reach the famous Wild Monkey Habitat. The habitat is one of the highlights of our Mt. Emei adventure. While at the habitat you have the chance to feed, pet and play with the cute furry wild monkeys, guaranteed to be tons of fun for all ages!

After a full day up of excitement we will return to the hotel for dinner, followed by a relaxing dip in the hot springs.

Day 2

Awake from your beauty sleep and enjoy breakfast on your own. We will meet up then and head out to a Tenfu Tea Plantation. Tenfu Tea Group, established in 1993, is one of the world’s leading producers of high quality teas and tea related products with over 830 franchised stores worldwide. The Tea Farm is one of the many large scale tea plantations and production facilities of Tenfu. After touring the combination plantation and museum, we will have lunch, which includes local specialties and other tea-related dishes. Then it brings our 2-day tour to a close as we head back to Chengdu.
